F45 Training East Hillcrest

The energy at this F45 studio is contagious - and thats ALWAYS a good thing!! Ive been coming to the Hillcrest location for over a year & Im also one of the DJs for Saturday classes - the vibe that this place has is second to none (from the owners to the members). Ive been to several other F45 studios in SD, and the trainers here are just on a different level; whereas other places may tell you to go faster faster! to get as many reps in & get your heart rate up, here the focus is on quality, not quantity - they help the clients, no matter their level of fitness, maintain good form throughout the set and suggest any modifications as needed. This is really important, especially in a group setting. The workouts are always intense - Ive been doing F45 since June 2017, and they never get easier. Its good to see the trainers always challenge even the more advanced members. They are also very passionate about the program, and thats evident from the enthusiasm they bring to the classes. The studio also hosts various social events throughout the year such as beach workouts and comedy nights which help to keep the feel of a strong community.Nowadays with COVID, the studio has done a phenomenal job with making the necessary modifications to maintain social distancing and cleanliness (it has always been clean!). We are all spaced at least 6 feet apart and have all the equipment we need in our tile, so no rotating/sharing equipment which was the case pre-COVID. Cleaning solution is also at each tile, and we all clean our equipment thoroughly at the end of the class. The trainers will then do another cleaning immediately after and before the next class. I have zero hesitation coming here during these current times.Yes, Id highly recommend this studio to anyone looking for a group training setting. I could have asked to DJ at several other F45 studios in SD, but from their social media content I knew the Hillcrest location was a step above the rest. I believe the studio is the largest F45 in the city - another perk to consider!**Note - the DJ pics are pre-COVID - as mentioned above, everyone works out in their own square tile now.

So I was scared to try F45...like SUPER scared. I did a free week and just figured I wouldnt join BUT after my first class I was hooked. Ok, heres the deal. I HATE cardio and I LOVE weights. Monday, Wednesday, Friday are cardio and Tuesday and Thursdays are weights. Luckily my first class was a weights day... I have a love hate with the cardio days. I get excited and nervous before each class thinking ok what is in store for me today??? I am pretty out of shape but in the past I used to workout like crazy (were talking like 8 years ago) so F45 really motivates me. The music they play is so fun and upbeat you cant help but want to move, all the instructors are really personable and they are great and they encourage you, show you when you are doing things incorrectly which is really important so you dont hurt yourself but one of the best things also is the other members. Everyone is all different ages, shapes, sizes, etc. and no one is judgmental, everyone is super encouraging. I am seriously hooked. I was giving myself a 3 month commitment but I dont think I will be able to give up F45, Im in it for the long haul. JUST DO IT!!!! You wont regret it, the classes go by so fast and when you are done you feel like a million bucks.

Instagram and Australian accents lured me in - Fun/effective workouts and noticeable results keep me coming back for more!Pros: Ive been to 13 sessions now since I started 9/8/20, and I cannot be more satisfied. Joey, Evan, and Hajji are friendly, easy to talk to, and very supportive to help you reach your goals. They started bringing in extra assistant coaches who have been very helpful during workouts to guide you through safe and proper technique. There are a lot of exercises to learn that are always being switched up every session! This will be easier when the inside opens up where there are TVs showing the different exercise techniques (hopefully opening soon). The outdoor area is great regardless. Working out outdoors has been clean and safe.Cons: I initially had some issues signing up for classes with the mind body app, but was later successful with the F45 app -They still helped me over the phone and email. The price may seem like a lot, but it is absolutely worth it if you can take full advantage of the classes they have available. It keeps me accountable, if Im paying more than other gyms Im going to get my moneys worth and attend every session I can. Theyre still growing and hopefully class times will to (fingers still crossed hoping for a Friday 4 or 5pm session)Join early and lock-in the foundation rate if you can. Meet your neighbors and get fit all in a functional 45 minutes. Working out to EDM is the cherry on top- good vibes/energy and every day is treated like Festival Friday!

Ive been working out at F45 San Diego East Village since May, and if I had to describe it in two words, Id use life changing. From my physical health to my mental health, being a member of this gym has done so much for me! Not only have I lost 25 pounds since joining, Ive found a routine that Im actually excited to maintain! From day to day, every workout is different so its impossible to get bored.Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays are cardio workouts. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays are strength workouts and Saturdays are a 60-minute cardio/strength hybrid class. The energy and expertise brought by the coaches is unparalleled. With decades of personal training experience across the staff, theyll be closely monitoring your form while finding ways to modify exercises to help you improve and grow.Beyond, that the community Ive found in the membership has also been a game-changer for me. Ive made SO many friends by coming to this gym, which makes the workouts even more fun. Whether running over to Achilles for coffee after class or meeting up at Social Tap to watch football, I feel like Ive got an incredible group of friends who share my excitement for health and wellness, but also know how to have fun.If youre looking for something more than your traditional gym experience, then you definitely need to come to F45 San Diego East Village.

When I first walked in back in Mid-August I could not have imagined how much of an impact this studio would have. Since the complimentary classes back then I have now become a full member and am regularly part of the 5.05am crew. The owners Ian and Jenny are pretty amazing and one of them is there every class. This truly makes for a group/family ambiance that makes you feel like you are part of something amazing.Every class/workout is different and with simple instructions on the TVs there is nothing to do wrong. The trainers in the studio will always suggest low impact versions based on your experience level. I wasnt going to commit to group classes but after going for a few times you will see how much fun it is an how much of an efficient workout you get in just 45minutes.I can only say TRY IT and you will see how much fun it is.Quick, Easy, Reliable, Clean, Fun Gym that is so much more of an EXPERIENCE than going to work out on your own.See you there!

I signed up for a 6 month contract and wanted to leave about 3 months in after getting covid (most likely from the gym itself). The gym wasnt passing out cleaning wipes anymore (you dont usually have time to go get one yourself and wipe down equipment during your 15 sec rest) and wasnt enforcing people brining their own towels from home (which is just spreading your own germs around on the equipment anyway). Classes were getting bigger and more crowded and the door wasnt propped open anymore for air flow.Without a doctors note you have to pay 50% of the remaining contract balance to cancel, which amounts to hundreds of dollars. They also want you to come in person to cancel, which seems unnecessary especially given the narrow range of hours where the gym is staffed. When I signed up I think they took my payment info before I really got a chance to read the contract in detail. In retrospect I wouldnt have joined this gym due to the high barrier to leaving/cancelling.

I've trained at tons of gyms throughout California and this one is by far the cleanest I've ever seen. On top of that, the classes I've experienced here are incredible.I've taken 2 boxing classes from Chris Leben so far and my mind is blown. Every other striking class I've had in my life pales in comparison to the way he coaches. It's clear he is the REAL DEAL. I believe he's the only one in San Diego who has the experience to back up what he teaches. His Pro MMA Team guys are all amazing teachers as well. The Jiu Jitsu instructor Ivan — his focus on fundamentals has helped me fill many gaps in my game (purple belt). I'm definitely addicted. Each coach has this crazy ability to tailor their class to both the newest member and the most advanced member at the same time. Really stoked to get to train here!

I dont usually write reviews. I USE them like crazy (Google, Yell, Amazon, etc) but always forget or find an excuse not to add to the community of reviews. But for a place/program like this, I couldnt resist.+The WorkoutIve tried an array of gyms/workouts throughout the years: standard big name club membership gyms, crossfit boxes, seal team group workouts, similar mainstream fitness companies that use the heart rate theory, etc. While some I really enjoyed (cross fit), others left me tired but not all that inspired to make it on a consistent basis. None, however, compare to the level of motivation and drive I have waking up at the crack of dawn just so I can get my fix of Aussie fitness for the day. You wont find yourself running a treadmill for half the class, but you will be smoked by the end of every class. Each class is different, built around different themed days and target muscle groups, but one thing is constant: a great damn workout.Disclaimer: it is not Crossfit, and never claims to be. If you are looking to Olympic style lift and set PRs, this place is not for you. When asked by my friends though, the easiest way to describe it for me is as a lighter crossfit. Your heartrate soars, youre dripping sweat, working box jumps and plyrometric moves, pushing sleds, hitting deep squats, and everything in between. Again, youre not throwing massive weights over your head or doing endless kipping pull-ups. But if youre like me, your workout goals dont necessarily revolve around setting a lifting PR each day. I really enjoyed my years crossfitting, but after doing F45, theres no going back.- The CostI wouldnt be giving a fair review if I didnt acknowledge the one drawback: the cost. But it comes with a caveat. Its pricey. It is. Compared to a standard flat rate general gym membership its going to seem outrageous. But when compared to what you pay elsewhere for anything other than a generic gym membership, it is no different. Whether its F45, yoga studios, crossfit boxes, or any other great workout program, you are going to pay a bit to get pushed to your max. Personalized training isnt cheap. But if you can find other splurge areas to cut back in order to fund it, you wont regret it.+The AtmosphereA huge aspect of any gym is the people, both the coaches and those attending the classes. The coaches are second to none. Whether its the local trainers or the Aussies who Luke and Evan (the owners and head trainers) have recruited to join the La Jolla team, every coach wants to be there and wants you to reach new bests. Similarily, everyone who attends want you to succeed as well. After every class youll find sweaty and exhausted people high-fiving each other for a great workout. Everyone puts out for 45 minutes and everyones pushing each other to get the most out of each workout. The pumping music that can be heard out of the doors only helps to add to the incredible energy in the room. Its an extremely inclusive group, welcoming all new comers who quickly turn into daily regulars.++The AussiesF45 is a international brand that has pushed from Australia to the US and has caught on fire since. The company seems like a great one to work for and is always is adapting workouts and improving upon past successes. I know I be happy with any F45 Id walk in to. But what sets this gym above the other F45s in the area are Luke and Evan. Whatever I write wont do these guys justice. At first glance, youd think they are yoked rugby players that can crush a workout. And you wouldnt be wrong. But more than that, they are the most welcoming, humble, motivating, and just generally great dudes youll meet. Theyve built this place from day one around a great workout program, a great vibe, and a community of people that want to train hard. And theyve done that and then some.I cannot say better things about this place. Give it a chance. Take the one week free challenge. It will no doubt be your first week of many.

I came to PBT after trying for years to get back into training programs but getting injured in the first couple weeks of starting a new program.I came in with lower back pain, sciatica, and very low mobility in my hips. Junior worked with me and slowly got me into a lifting program - injury free. I got strong, my sciatic faded as he focused on building muscles to help relieve it, and I was stoked to be on the right track again. That was about 2 years ago. My partner and I work with Laura twice a week now. She crafts programs that for our bodies' needs, our schedule, and allow us to workout together which keeps us motivated. She incorporates a lot of breathing and stretching into our lifting routine as well which is much appreciated additions and help a lot with recovery.Coach D's Fight Fit classes are also amazing! Great way to relieve stress, stay motivated, and get your sweat on.Highly recommend PBT no matter what your fitness goals are. The trainers are amazing at crafting individual plans.

It is extremely difficult these days to come into something long term, especially when it's something that benefits your health wise. So, when I tried numerous activities and establishments to try to motivate myself to eat well, exercise, and overall be healthier I always failed. Coming into the world of fitness and exercise, was something that was never in my near future. Although wanting to lose weight and tone up was something I've dreamed about for many many years. Upon entering F45 in 4S, I walked in with the same though and attitude, of “let me try this place,” but thinking in the back of my head that I will ultimately fail. And let me tell you, to my surprise I did not fail! I did not fail only because I did not want to succeed, but because of the amazing people that I have encountered when I walked into the F45 4S Ranch location. I realized that it's not I who was failing, it was the relationship that I could not find between myself and the coaches I was interacting with. After a VERY long and detailed conversation with Chris, who has motivated and encouraged me to give it a try, I decided to sign up for a few trial classes…After the first class I was totally obsessed with not only the studio and workouts, but with the coaches. I have never worked out with a group of more positive, motivating, and encouraged coaches. Unfortunately, I'm the type of person who needs someone to constantly push me otherwise I tend to not give it my all. Every one of the coaches starting from Chris to Jason to Kara to Nicholas, and that's to name only a few, did just that! They were always there to help answer any and all questions, whether at the studio, or via email/phone outside the studio. They ALWAYS provided me with positive advice and corrected me when needed. During the workouts, they are constantly looking making sure I was performing the exercises correctly and provided alternative options where need be. During the various challenges, they ALWAYS were so motivating, and THEY ARE the ONLY REASON why I was able to get through them and get the amazing results that I did. To this day, signing up to F45 training in 4S Ranch has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. Thank You F45 4S!!!
