Power Physical Therapy & Sports Medicine
3140 Red Hill Ave Suite 225, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
Well now. Here we are, 15 calendar months since I started seeing Dr. Nowlin. Its pronounced exactly how its spelled, not a silent W. Dont misinterpret the length of my treatment as poor craftsmanship on the part of this provider. Im genuinely mangled and partially destroyed physically. Ive had 6 hip replacements. Thats correct you and I only have 2 hips. I developed frozen shoulder from an extended period on crutches. Its safe to say I am an informed patient with a ton of valuable experience in the field of physical therapy services. I struggled in the mid term of my health crisis with other physical therapists and specialized care centering around older people.Theres no doubt that the good Doctor has a bedside manner that translates well to both young and old but the key to Power and the reason Im writing this review is his ability to be all things to all patients. Im a special case. But so is everyone else! I feel listened to and cared for which is the most important thing in health care. I will see Dr. Mark, its easy to avoid mispronouncing his name when you call him Dr. Mark, as long as he will have me! As for a performance review, I started in september of 2019 on crutches, with only 1 hip installed and an IV bag in a satchel. Today I swim in the ocean 4-7 days a week, ride my bike 5-15 miles per week, golf regularly and do almost whatever I want to do physically. I still go because of my shoulder and I want to be more flexible in my lower body but the targets are defined and Dr. Mark keeps me moving towards them. Thanks Dr. Mark!

AIM Fitness
890 Baker St # 200, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
So definitely thought I would share just my overall experience with AIM fitness. So before I met coach jake and his wife and team I was literally just a mess. Was going through one of the toughest times in my life with work, personal life stuff and just confidence issues. I used to train at a place in LA and it was super cool but when I moved back to OC I had no other means of training unless I went to you normal”planet fitness gyms” (which by the way is no bueno). So with just trying to find a way to escape out of my depression I was looking up local gyms near my area and came across AIM fitness. Now when it comes to gyms I always make sure to do my research before I decide to take on a commitment anywhere! So when I researched the background on the gym and staff I saw the coach Jake was from usc and did a lot of strength and performance base training with high end athletes so me being a kendo swordsman/athlete decided well why not give it a try. Let me tell you THE BEST FREAKIN DECISION I HAVE EVER MADE! Not only does coach Jake and his team provide you with elite workouts that get you sore as heck( and I mean sore were you like heck yeah bout to get these gains but there set up is super dope and it's a family base gym where he incorporates proper form, accountability, and he is a Kinesiologist/ pero man e athlete who knows how to get younger results you need and the atmosphere is fun ohh and there playlist be off the chain too haha! If you want rap you'll get rap if you want country you'll get country if you want turn up where we bout to do work then you'll get that too! All in all I was in my lowest times and Jake gave me a home to feel like family him and all the athletes there. Please guys GO GO GO!! Check them out and I promise you are gonna love this place bet that!!! Appreciate Jake and the AIM FITNESS TEAM!??

Align Fitness By Allie
1525 Mesa Verde Dr E Suite 108, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
It was very important for us as parents that we find the right person who understood the Kinesiology of a dancers body and their needs and it was imperative that not only she maintain a strong body for surgery but to have someone who would be there afterwards to help her regain the flexibility and strength, Allie was the exact person she needed. It was very important to our daughter and us that regain the skills that she had trained and developed for so many years in order to return to the world of dance. When we first reached out to Allie a month before surgery she was flexible with our schedule and willing to accommodate our unique situation, she even did her own homework and became well versed in our daughter's condition, its anatomy prior to surgery.Post 6 wks of surgery my daughter saw Allie 3 times a week, started with 30 minutes increments of mild gentle fluid movements that over time would only improve the flexibility. The movement of her chest/torso were now restricted by this Titanium steel bar that was surgically placed behind her Thoracic ribs inside and in front of her heart. Allie continued to help our daughter find a way to maintain and develop her new founding core strength to improve mobility and reduce pain. She also set up a new plan of action as now that the correction of the front of her chest had been taken care of it now had caused the major shift and curve in the spine (history of a VERY mild case of scoliosis prior to surgery) Her Orthopaedic Doctor and Thoracic surgeon suggested physical therapy would be the next step for our daughter and suggested she was cleared to so. We told him we had a very good personal trainer who worked with a PT and was better suited and familiar in the rehabilitation of dancers with combined resistance training, core strengthening and specific body motions with Gyrotonics.6 months forward now my daughter goes twice a weekly (1 hr each). Allie targets her recovery by having her do different exercises to improve the straightening of her back, working to correct the alignment of her body in these last six months. Our daughter has regained flexibility, strength and agility and has resumed Ballet again. Our daughter has increased her range of motion, she is more aware of what her body is capable of doing and has more endurance thanks to this particular training. Allie is a very positive person with great patience, she genuinely knows how to connect with these dancers that need encouragement when injured or recovering or just looking to improve and become better dancers. Every week there is something new that Allie corrects or improve in our daughter's technique that she then applies to her ballet class the following and others notice. Our daughter will continue to work with her on maintaining the newly found core strength that even her Ballet teachers have noticed and said“ She came back even stronger than before “or “ even her turns out's are better and her ability to balance is better”“ It doesn't even look like she had surgery “ per her Ballet Mistressbesides Allie helping her get back into the world of dance, we recently saw her Orthopaedic Doctor for the 6-month post-x-ray to her spine and he was very pleased and a bit surprised that the curve in her spine has improved so quickly and he said“ Its almost straight … it's just 6 months, continue what you are doing “In retrospect, we only wished we had known and started with Allie years ago. This could have helped our daughter become a much stronger dancer sooner by having that one person who teaches you how your muscles and body work together, what doesn't work or correct that bad habit you've been doing all along, to what does and makes you look like a solid dancer. We highly recommend Allie and we look forward to seeing our daughter continue on this journey with Allie help.

9Round Kickboxing Fitness
1175 Baker St Suite A5, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
I love coming to this 9round location. I started coming here back in September 2017. I had let myself go after a divorce and went back to yoga to get into shape. After going everyday and it not working, I was panicking. My body had changed and I was no longer able to drop weight and get into shape the way I used to. My coworker told me to come to 9Round and I am glad I did.9Round has CHANGED MY LIFE. Not only is it important to work out, it is a mindset of what choices you make each day with food. I was putting in the work but needed to make personal habit changes.Diesel, the manager, is a certified nutritionist and gave me a meal plan to follow. He also followed up with me about actually sticking to it. I was on my way. Then in March and April, there were March Madness and Project Me competitions. I WON SECOND PLACE EACH COMPETITION for losing body fat percentages. I lost 8 pounds and 1.7% body fat in March and 7.5 pounds and 2.7% body fat in April. I GAINED MUSCLE.All of a sudden, people noticed I had lost major weight in 60 days time. I went to get a massage and the lady asked me if I lift weights because she can tell with how defined my arms now are.9Round Costa Mesa off Baker motivated me to change my thinking and that translates over to body image. The best part is the class is 30 minutes. You walk in and they work you into the buzzer rounds. You do not get locked out for being late and there is no pressure to get anywhere before or after work on time. The atmosphere is like one big family. You will make friends with the members and trainers. Everyone goes out of their way to be friendly. The owner is a lady named Holly and she is amazing. The coaches walk around and show you each exercise.Diesel, Carlos, Ian and Olivia are amazing motivators. Before you know it, the 30 minutes is up. In fact, one member (Alfredo) who left to pursue MMA is now back as a trainer because he missed going there so much. He went from member to now coaching us with the skills and esteem he got from 9Round.We are all inspired and so happy to have such a positive outlet.I highly recommend 9Round as your workout choice. You can try it for free with loaner equipment and there is not a big pressuring pitch to join.If you want to change your life, all you have to do is show up for 30 minutes..........the choice is yours.

Elev8 Performance
2950 Airway Ave A5, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
Ive tried gyms before but never felt confident or comfortable. I knew I needed a coach or trainer to succeed, so on my search for a gym with a more personal touch, I found Elev8. After touring with Cierra and speaking with the owner, Kat, I felt reassured. Kat understood my goals and concerns, ensuring the gym wouldnt push me too hard too quickly and would support my desire for a gradual lifestyle change. I had a free training session with Julie, who evaluated my strength, mobility, and balance. Feeling ready, I committed to twice-weekly sessions with her, which Ive maintained for four months now.My Trainer:Julie is empathetic, knowledgeable, and patient. She adjusts workouts based on my health, which fluctuates. This understanding approach eased my fears of appearing uncommitted due to inconsistent energy levels. During a sinus infection, Julie adjusted the training to avoid overexertion, providing relief and a great workout. Her attention to form has significantly improved my strength, balance, stamina, and mobility. Julie pushes me to reach my potential while being mindful and kind. Youre the best Julie! Thank you!Atmosphere:The gym is welcoming, with friendly greetings from all employees. Community Connect nights with snacks and games offer a chance to meet others. Monthly check-ins with Darlene and Cierra feel like catching up with friends. Herans cupping sessions have relieved muscle pain, and his friendly greetings make the gym feel like a second home. This supportive environment makes me feel like I truly belong. If youre looking for not only a supportive gym, but community as well, I would highly recommend Elev8!

ProSport Physical Therapy & Performance
2777 Bristol St b, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, United States
ProSport PT in Costa Mesa has had such a profound, positive impact on my life it is hard to put into words. After 14 months of chronic pain that culminated in an emergency spinal surgery at 33 years old, I was left needing to not just heal from surgery, but fix the root problems that caused the issues.Since I live alone, I spent most of my time on my couch with my cat. I am a very social person so it was hard to be in pain and away from the people and activities I love.I was referred to ProSport by my surgeon and instantly when I walked in, I felt the warmth and energy in the office. Music is playing, people are smiling and animated, and the staff all looked happy to be there and excited to serve.Immediately, I was met with care, compassion, and expert advice to help me improve. They also listened to my feedback and worked with me to ensure I was progressing at the right pace, without overdoing it.The front desk team is incredibly responsive and always has worked to help get me in and accommodate changes when needed.I cant thank them enough because now, 7 months later at the time of writing this, I am feeling the best I have felt physically in 2 years and getting better every week.In the most difficult physical year of my life, where I was isolated or in pain for a great portion of that time, ProSport PT became a place I knew I could go to heal and connect with great people.I have learned more about my body, how things work together, and how to best support my work and my specific activities.I am excited to continue working with their amazing staff after PT to continue my education and growth, to become stronger and healthier than ever before!Thank you to everyone and special shout outs to the people I have worked with the most:PTs = Ashley Avalos and Alexandra RoldaPT Aides = Jake, Melanie, Sofia, Hannah, Noah, Ryan, Shane, Franz, and more!Front Desk Team: Jenna, Danielle, Pietra, RileyTruly, you dont realize the impact you have all had on me so from the bottom of my heart, thank you all for everything you do.- Brian

This program helped me meet my fitness goals. The workouts are very efficient and accessible to people with certain injuries or physical limitations that don’t allow engagement in other high impact, or long duration types of activities. The staff who worked with me, were all excellent in every way. They were always supportive, encouraging and understanding. I am grateful to all of them for their help.

We have worked with Joe for over a year. Not only is he an amazing personal trainer, but he also has a heart of gold. I do not use the word ‘amazing' lightly either. Joe first started working with my 12 year old son who is in a wheelchair due to cerebral palsy. Joe came with no judgment, discussed goals for my son, then set out to help my son achieve those goals. He met my son where he was in his fitness journey, and determined how best to strengthen him in that journey.I later started working with Joe, myself when I began really struggling with weight gain at age 50. I consider myself educated and well read, but Joe debunked a lot of false information I was following from carnivore diet to intermittent fasting (aka starvation). Although IF has its brain health benefits, it causes you to lose muscle. At my age, I'm already losing too much muscle. Joe advised me to increase my protein and to trust him. When I didn't see results immediately, I really hung onto his words ‘trust me'. I also trusted him because of how carefully (and lovingly) he worked with my son. Around week 4 or 5, I finally started seeing results just like he said I would. My old lady butt has disappeared. My muscle tone is excellent - folks you need your protein! My son and I consider ourselves ‘Mr. Joe Groupies' and feel blessed to have crossed paths.I completely trust Joe's word because I know he is constantly educating himself by renowned experts in the health and fitness industry. Joe has an MBA and left a lucrative career because fitness and health is his passion. This is easily recognized when you work with him - his passion and desire to help you succeed and achieve your goals. Obviously, I highly recommend him. An easy 5/5 stars for me. My 12 year old son, he rates him 1 million stars.

Malakas Training

If you're looking for amazing results and a trainer who actually cares not just about how you look but your overall health and well-being, Dale is the coach you're looking for. I met Dale almost 2 years ago and basically told him I wanted to look like him lol. His accolades already speak for themselves as he is a competitor in physique competitions, but his training method goes way beyond aesthetics. My goal was to be sub 10% body fat and when I met him I was probably around 18 or 19. Within 6 months, with proper direction for my training and nutrition, I had accomplish that goal! More importantly, Dale had noticed a lot of imbalances and work needed on my mobility. Never in my years of lifting had I cared or had anyone point out these weaknesses but he made them apparent to me and every day we worked on that on top of the regular bodybuilding splits. I basically had to forget everything I thought I knew about training and start from scratch and being in my 30s that was not easy to get rid of bad habits, but with Dale's guidance, I've made drastic improvements in my overall health as well as my physique. With the gains I made, Obviously I followed him when he opened up his own gym. Out of all the gyms I've been to there's been no comparison. Clean, all the equipment for lifting and cardio I need, spacious, well ventilated and cooled (definitely important for SoCal summers!), and amazing people here!Like with any serious transformation you'll need to hold yourself accountable and whatever you put into it you'll get outbofnitbut set your goals high and Dale will get you to where you need to be.
