Safety Training Seminars
1400 Coleman Ave Suite E18-1, Santa Clara, CA 95050, United States
Class was straight forward and helpful. I love that I can simply take the quiz at home online before coming in to do the demonstration on the manikin (which is required before doing skills demonstration on manikin). The skills demonstration was straight forward, easy, and helpful. There is no instructor so you are by yourself but there are videos you can watch before your demonstration and it's prompts you on what to do. There's also tips and advice while you're doing it which helps a lot. You can also redo if you didn't pass or if you want a higher score/more practice. Overall the experience was helpful and instructions on how to get to the site and what to do are clear and thorough. I had no issues finding the location/room or while performing the skills. Would definitely do this again in the future for renewal.

Safety Training Seminars
154 Santa Clara Ave Suite 6, Oakland, CA 94610, United States
Abysmal experience. My goal is to be prepared to rescue my children, or other children, if they ever needed it, so I studied hard and focused on the online materials. I felt very prepared for the classroom portion and test. Honestly now I less confident in my preparation. Because this sketchy classroom experience made me lose trust in whether organizations providing the training know what theyre doing. (If it seems clear they dont know what theyre doing, and the whole point is for them to teach you what to do, how else can you feel?)The AED was missing several fundamental pieces (including pads and wires), it didnt power on, and the instructor said just dont worry about that, and pretend that the pieces are there and the AED powered on. Pretend that its doing what its supposed to do.The instructor stopped me from logging into the computer and I never got any feedback whatsoever from computer or the CPR dummies regarding my compression levels, breath pressure, timing, etc. Just guesstimates from the instructor on the other end of the zoom call about what she could make out over the zoom video.Zero practice or testing of any sort re: 2-person partner CPR/handing off between myself and the computer or another student.3/4 of the way through my allotted test appointment timeslot, in the middle of my test, someone else (another customer?) came into the room, seemed really annoyed, interrupted the test and asked my instructor how long I was going to be there and said she didnt want me interfering with the time she had to take her test.My wife took a CPR/AED course a year ago and so many of the fundamental pieces of equipment, feedback, and entire skills to be tested that she experienced were skipped here. This is worse than giving the exam completely virtually. If I were reviewing a pizza joint or a laundromat here, I wouldnt spend so much time on a writeup. But the stakes here are life and death. Lives may well be lost due to this companys failure to provide the core service paid for.Bottom line: If you want to prepare yourself to provide assistance in an emergency or to provide basic CPR, do not do business with Safety Training Seminars. Go somewhere else.

Tactica & Krav Maga Institute
1171 Homestead Rd suite 125, Santa Clara, CA 95050, United States
Highly recommend Krav Maga self-defence training, their fitness program and all the workshops (offline and online). After giving a birth I became more anxious and nervous while being home alone, it started seem almost like neurosis. Then my husband recommended me to try self-defence class and I found KMI. I was not sure if Im doing right when I started the training. I thought that it could increase my panic and I will be constantly thinking about worse case scenario. But it turned out right opposite. This class gave me confidence and I became calmer and more relaxed. That is what I was looking for. They have an amazing instructors, they are so fun and professional and helpful and understanding. They all have a little bit different style of teaching which is also great because you can learn a lot from all of them!Unfortunately during the COVID they had to stop contact training. But they have online training which is so great! I just attended online workshop women self-defence and it was full of useful tips was way deeper and more structured than any Youtube video on this topic.I love their approach and highly recommend to everyone who wants to feel confident, empowered and strong - physically and (what is even more important) mentally.

CorePower Yoga
2712 Augustine Dr Suite #210, Santa Clara, CA 95050, United States
This CorePower has 3 practice rooms so it can offer numerous classes each day. I had attended a Made To Fly workshop with a friend who was a member there. The 90-minute workshop was taught by Brit, the studio manager. Brit explained the alignment of each posture well and she had someone else helping out with hands on assists, so even though there were lots of folks at the workshop, you still got some attention. When you look up at the ceiling, the heating grates are covered and the sound system is quite good (I think its a relatively newer building) so in terms of facilities, it reminded me of a Barrys Bootcamp or SoulCycle in terms of facilities (showers, shampoo, etc.) although I do think you have to bring your own towel or rent one for $3.Pros1.) Ample parking, great location next to a giant Whole Foods (Im always hungry after working out,) and the studio space itself plus the amenities are quite nice.2.) Lots of classes and your first week is free--the CorePower membership also gets you into other CorePower studios around the countryCons1.) Most CorePower instructors are pretty junior in their yoga practice. While Brit was a great teacher, I could also see that she was still relatively new at practicing yoga too. It was an inversion class so Brit showed some fun inverted transitions and poses, but other workshops I have been to featured instructors who were much more grounded in their practice (e.g. 20+ years of practice).

FNS Training Center
2342 Walsh Ave, Santa Clara, CA 95051, United States
After being here for a month, I realized I didnt actually know what F.N.S. stands for. I sheepishly asked one of the coaches at the front desk, who told me that it means Fitness Never Sleeps. So there, now you know!Speaking of the front desk, everyone is super nice and remembers my name whenever I come in, which is not even that often!I play pickup basketball pretty regularly. I enjoy it because its a good workout and its fun to play with a group of people to work toward an objective. I cant bring myself to run regularly or do home exercises habitually. It turns out when you put your dumbbells next to the couch, you still just want to sit in your couch all the time. Anyway, I figured I should do something other than hoops to round out my overall fitness and avoid injury on the court.Ive been coming out to FNS for about 4-5 weeks now, about once or twice a week. Im not exactly a weightlifting enthusiast, and my left knee and I arent on great terms right now, but I look forward to coming in for classes when my schedule allows (pro-tip: just carve the time out in Outlook as busy). Classes are fun, with motivational coaches who are attentive and inspire a spirit of camaraderie. The workouts have a bunch of variety to keep things interesting and well-rounded, and -- more importantly -- the equipment is all set up for you when you come in, so you can get going right away. Its way better than working out at home on your own by several orders of magnitude. Lastly, I like the classes for the same reasons I enjoy basketball -- great workouts that arent boring, with a group of people who are working toward an objective. As far as results go, well, its probably going to take more than just a month of dilly-dallying 1-2x a week to have anything to show for it. But I definitely feel good, and thats what matters at the end of the day! Also, last week I was able to carry my sleeping 7 year old through an airport terminal with one arm while rolling our bag with the other; that counts for something yeah?
