This review has been a few months in the making, it's an important review to me and I am hoping my mind will find the words to adequately express how I feel. Let me just start of by saying, fitness is a very personal journey, which can be often intertwined with our physical appearance, ego, self-confidence, and physical/mental/emotional health. Nothing in our bodies and minds is independent of the other, just as in spirituality and meditation, you realize the concept of other is a fear-based illusion.Up until maybe ten years ago, weight and fitness never seemed to be an issue for me, I was always playing some sport, running around, doing something. Then I abused my body with the food I was eating, poisoned my mind with depression, hopelessness. Add too much wine, too much stress, too much sitting and a list longer than I care to write. The cumulative effect led me to be the heaviest and out of shape I could ever imagine for my life. Aside for a few short victories in those years, obtained in unhealthy ways which I would not recommend, I became a stranger to myself. I didn't know who this person was, or how to find myself again, only that continuing to do nothing would mean more of the same.I decided a few months ago, to begin to address aspects of my life that I wanted to change, and one of the first was to make a change to my physical health, I'm not getting any younger, but I'm not dead yet. I wasn't sure if boot camp would be for me. When I lived in Chicago and worked in Lincoln Park, I tried similar classes at one of Jim Karas's (Diane Sawyer, Gayle King, Oprah) studios and although I was ready, the vibe just wasn't right with the classes, trainers (no shade) and I never returned.Carlsbad Fit Body Boot Camp has been a game-changer for me. Our morning coach, Sarim, has been incredibly kind, patient, and sometimes tough on me. Since day one, I have felt welcomed, and that I belong there. I never realized just how out of shape I was more than the first few weeks, when I sometimes took a day or two off to give my long underused muscles a break. Sarim has done an excellent job in assessing where I'm at, when to modify exercises I'm not yet ready for, and when to push me harder. I honestly don't remember the last time I have felt this good, and the one thing you forget or take for granted, is how much your physical health affects every other area of your life.As I am growing physically stronger, my mind is also getting stronger, and that clarity makes me unstoppable. I have new energy, a better sense of well-being, and when I go to boot camp in the morning, I know my day is starting out right. When you feel that good in the morning, the rest of your day follows. Add weeks and months to that, and you're living a good life. I have felt only supported by everyone there, we all want to see each other succeed. If you are able to keep on a consistent schedule, you will also enjoy the camaraderie and motivation of a team and support system.There is a saying that goes, workout because you love your body, not because you hate it. This is the opposite of how we are told to think, even what our own self-talk is. When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change, it's all about shifting your perception and mindset. I'm not yet where I want to be, but I have an excellent leader to show me the way, and the encouragement of my group in every step.Sarim & 5:30 - if you keep showing up, I will too.

I have been training with Denise for 11 years now. She is wonderful! She uses a combination of Pilates, personal training,yoga,mat, cardio work you name it I do it! Denise is highly trained and absolutely the best Pilates instructor personal trainer you can get in Carlsbad. Her new studio is beautiful, clean (extremely clean Denise and her daughter keep it clean like their own home)and intimate very well decorated. Fit Monkeys in Carlsbad has everything you need to stay fit and healthy and because of their training safe from injury. Their education, career background, and certifications really distinguish them from other studios. I highly recommend Fit Monkeys if you are looking for a great Pilates or personal trainer studio in Carlsbad. At Fit Monkeys Im treated like family I love it their?

The floor plan for this gym is pretty small, although it has all the basics, with well maintained equipment and clean facilities.The problem some might have with the small floor plan though is poor etiquette at times and gym classes leading to distractions (especially noisy chit chat), which can be a problem for those who want to do their own thing and stay in the zone while working out. Unfortunately some of these etiquette issues seem to be driven/condoned by the personal trainer / senior staff.Anyway, if etiquette is something important for you, would recommend going to the newly opened Anytime Fitness in Encinitas instead.

24 Hour Fitness

This was a disappointing experience. First, I lift weights and this is what Ill discuss. Im a former personal trainer and have lifted for decades. The most important aspect of lifting is form: without perfect form, you risk injury. Some rocket scientist decided to save money and only put mirrors on the upper half of the walls, meaning you cannot see yourself when you squat, lunge and do anything involving your lower body. GREAT way to ensure someone gets hurt, not to mention open yourselves up to liability and get sued.Second, at other gyms there are signs on the walls stating etiquette and rules: no dropping weights, no grunting, no phones, work in, no monopolizing machines, etc. A lot of people were never taught this etiquette, and it continues to get worse. Ive had people refuse to work in (I have 15 more minutes as they take selfies. Well, I have two sets AND THATS LITERALLY THE WHOLE POINT OF WORKING IN!), and simply sit and play on their phone as they age. They act as though its their living room. Ive spoken to management about signage and nothing.Pay for a different gym that does things right. If you lift, you can definitely do better.

This place is the best kept secret in Carlsbad! The circuit classes are amazing, yoga classes are fantastic, and the strength training classes are killer! The circuit is tailor-made and different every day I attend. The instructors (Staci, Cal, Madeline, Jamie, & Kelly) are right there watching me, pushing me, and helping me modify things if needed. Each one is like a personal trainer for me. I have been attending since October and have learned so much and keep getting stronger every week. Highly recommend!

I found Andrea Lane in searching for personal trainers in Carlsbad and right away I knew she would be helping me with more than just exercising and losing weight. Andrea encouraged me to make healthier lifestyle choices while working a program that fit with my work schedule. We started working on building strength in the places where my body lacked foundation. By following her nutritional coaching I learned healthier eating and meal planning habits. By following her strength training I began to feel stronger, more balanced and my posture improved. In just a couple months I saw improvement in my weight and measurements. The training facility Andrea uses is in great condition, offers a variety of new equipment and is clean and spacious. A few months after I started training with Andrea I found out I was pregnant but I decided to continue training with her and I am still training with her in my sixth month of pregnancy. I have no doubt that this was a good decision because I have no back or leg pain like my other pregnant friends and continue to feel stronger and more toned in my arms, legs and back. I think it is still important to pay attention to my eating habits and exercise while pregnant so it will be easier for me to lose weight after birth. Andrea keeps me motivated during my pregnancy to stay active and my program has continued to have an extremely positive impact on my energy levels and wellbeing. I plan to continue working with Andrea as long as my body will allow and look forward to restarting our program and keeping my weight down after I have my baby. Called many times at 12:30pm pressed 7 to speak to a representative every time phone just rings and rings. Not the way to do business. I have one simple question to ask would take 30 seconds to answer but they can't even answer the phone. The gym is nice the people are friendly and helpful when you can ACTUALLY speak to them. It's coming up on 1pm now been repeatedly calling while writing wasted almost half an hour out of my day just to ask a simple question. Someone finally answered the phone my question was if they We're going to be open for 24 hours now That the restrictions have been lifted and the response was That there's not enough traffic in and out of the gym so they will open when it is profitable for them. I signed up to be able to go to the gym when EVER I can throughout my day not cause it was profitable for you? maybe you should change the name of the gym to “Fitness Half time for the Full price” I'm sure I'm not the only member that would like work out after 9pm. As far as traffic goes The name of your gym is “24 hour fitness”? traffic shouldn't matter. 24 hour access is the whole reason I joined your gym. I'm visiting from Kona Hawaii and Planet fitness there has been open 24 hours on the weekdays. Way less traffic and SOMEHOW they managed to maintain there gym Hours. As far as being profitable that's kind of a joke?? I don't think every members gym rates got cut in half because“24 hour fitness” is only open half the time. Which BTW would have been the right thing to do. So you should be just as profitable or more cause your not running 24 hours but members are still paying the SAME 24 hour rate$$$. So Your answer Doesn't ANY make sense. Pretty sad. With all that being said the person who finally did answer the phone was very friendly and professional and seemed sympathetic to my needs. I don't leave bad reviews often but I almost had to drive down there just to get an answer to my question...
