SpinOut Fitness
Pier 40 #36, Waterbike Launch Meet at Gate 02, San Francisco, CA 94107, United States
When I started I was scared, when I left I was smiling. My sister surprised me for my birthday with a 30-min ride. I had never before heard of the company, or any idea how to ride a water bike. I literally found out about our activity when we were standing in front of the bikes at the dock. I'm the kind of person who likes to do research before giving my seal of approval for certain activities. Especially when I have concerns about my safety. Because you go out into the open ocean, saying I was freaked out when I realized what we were about to do was an understatement. I was very afraid and nearly backed out.Thankfully, Damien the owner has the patience to deal with customers like me. Despite my many negatives thoughts and comments, he kindly and thoroughly explained every aspect of how to use the bike. He demonstrated how to safely get on and off the bike, how to steer, and communicate if we needed to return to the pier, etc. He also provided life jackets.Once on the water, it was great. I felt really safe and had a wonderful time. I laughed and joked more times than I can count, and had forgotten how afraid I had been previously.I highly recommend this to activity. It's a wonderful experience that will help you step outside of your comfort zone.

I want to report strange behavior from the staff at this location. First, today I come in to workout and I notice that a customer came into the locker room whom I never met telling me she trying to stay out my business and shes sorry, and then she looked in the mirror flipped her hair from side to side and up and down with no mask. She told me she was sorry again and walked out. few moments later one of staff members I guess! came in yet for the second time complaining about my mask she never introduce herself to be so I really dont who this person is. I do know she follows me around the fitness center with harrassing remakes and theatening throw me out for no reason. I seen this type behavior before whenever choose workout at fitness. I dont know why I am target to this rude behavior but I come in clean well dressed and do my workout. Ido not brother anyone or talk much there but everyone else does. So, if this continues to happen it looks like would file official complaint. Hopefully, that wont happens. So far, I give it a 1 star but willing to change it when I get treated the way stated on their video as a marketing advertising Planet Fitness.

Tribe Fitness, Yoga & Coaching
222 Columbus Ave #220, San Francisco, CA 94133, United States
Embarking on the 6-week workout challenge was truly transformative. From the initial goal-setting workshop, where I defined my why, to the consistent support and camaraderie within the tribe community, every step felt empowering. I committed to working out 4 to 5 times a week and adopted healthier eating habits, which made all the difference. The results speak volumes: I trimmed 5.2 lbs of body fat (a remarkable 13.3% decrease) and witnessed a significant drop of 2.7% in body fat percentage relative to total weight. Whats more, I gained 3.1 lbs of muscle, a 5.7% increase, and saw my BMI decrease by 0.8 (a 2.7% reduction). This journey wasnt just about physical changes; it was about embracing a lifestyle centered around wellness and personal growth. I wholeheartedly recommend this challenge to anyone seeking sustainable fitness goals and a supportive community to embark on the journey with. Its more than just a workout; its a pathway to a healthier, happier you.

I travel for work and regularly go to local gyms/fitness center and purchase a day pass in order to use the variety of equipment I need for my rehab and total body workout. Sorry to say, but in all of my years of travel, this gym had the filthiest locker room Ive ever seen. I was planning to shower and use the sauna after my workout but I was deterred by the dirty urinals, the un-mopped floors and the overflowing garbage bins. Ive been to many 24Hr Fitness locations and NONE are like this one.On the positive side this location does have lots of great equipment, friendly staff and a really good vibe.

The Bar Method San Francisco - Downtown
Three Embarcadero Center, Embarcadero Ctr, San Francisco, CA 94111, United States
Just moved back to SF and had planned to reenroll at my old barre studio (which closed in my absence). Enter Bar Method Embarcadero. Ive been going for about 2 months now. Pros: 1) studios and bathrooms are clean, 2) instructors are positive, energetic and they dont hesitate to correct your form (which is a HUGE plus-- many barre chains dont do this -- unfortunate, because this is precisely how you improve/advance; 3) very professional staff (treats everyone the same); 4) has some variety of classes (signature Bar Method class, Advanced and Move. Advanced and Move are a bit more rigorous than the signature class); 5) Studio owner is very receptive to feedback and suggestions. 6) Glutes and legs will definitely get a work out -- as these exercises are constantly changing class to class - so youre challenging these muscles in different ways every day. 7) Classes run on time, all the time. Worse case, a class might run over 2-3 minutes, but you can always scoot out whenever you need to. There is no Con per se. Aside from glutes/legs, some of the exercises in the signature Bar class are too repetitive (warm up, arms, abs and stretches --- same in every class-- and the order of the exercises is the exact same in every class). I dont feel like these muscle groups are taxed similarly to Glutes/Legs.

Infinity Training Center
742 14th St, San Francisco, CA 94114, United States
Ive been training with Ricardo for over a year. I started with Ricardo at a larger fitness center before COVID and during COVID he trained me in my back yard. He recently opened his own fitness center in a good location with great equipment! Ricardo is a good motivator (both in terms of fitness, exercising and what to eat!) Slowly but surely Ive lost about 15 pounds, decreased my body fat percentage, gained muscle, toned and decreased inches in all the key spots! I just went on a shopping spree and bought all new clothes! Id highly recommend Ricardo!

CrossFit Golden Gate
1946 Van Ness Ave, San Francisco, CA 94109, United States
***FIRST TO RATE*** Free burpees for everyone!Time for a SIX month review:I began my leap into CrossFit half a year ago with the only expectation of becoming healthy and not having to own fat pants. I remember starting on-ramp classes at the Folsom Street location (*woot* I am an original member of the second location!) where I was going to die from rowing 500 meters. Lifting anything on a barbell was foreign to me. All these strange lacrosse balls and resistance band warm ups... also foreign to me.Days, weeks, and months have passed since I started CrossFit Golden Gate...Now that CFGG has moved to its new home, next to the House of Prime Rib, it gets better and better! There is a parking alley in the back, so no meter maids to be afraid of here! Buses are convenient and close by (depending on where you need to head... there is the 1, 19, 27, 47, 49). And if you eat meat, just head on next store after a WOD for a protein refill.Coaches: Danielle (the Boss lady), Vic, Dan, Steven are all wonderful in teaching me proper form and technique. They all have a keen eye on watching you during WODs too!For instance, during those crazy AMRAPs of strict presses, sometimes... I get a little tired, and sneak a push press in there BUT nope, they watch you! and call you out! I remember when I first started CrossFit, I was so lost (I am still lost, just a little less now), but each coach would take time to make sure you are doing the movements right before letting oneself at the WOD. Sometimes, when Im just being ornery, I still ask for refreshers on what a movement might be (I still cant remember all them different Cleans). When I first started CrossFit, I remember my Baseline WOD...500 meter row (out of breathe by the first minute)40 air squats (probably didnt squat pass parallel)30 sit ups (good thing I could throw my arms up to propel myself)20 push ups (knees)10 pull ups (black resistance band)and it took me... hm... more than 12 minutes?WELL, as a new year workout, I redid my baseline... and guess what? 5:32 with no bands or knee push ups! *WOOT*Gone are the days of my supple and soft librarian hands, gone are the days of ineffective workouts at the gym, to my new found health, I owe to CrossFit Golden Gate ♥NOW some tips:1. If you are a visiting athlete... come here!2. If you are planning to join CF... start here! (is CrossFit a cult? probably, drink the Kool-Aid, it tastes great!)3. I personally like the RuPaul radio station that is played, but you can change to Taylor Swift, if that floats your boat.4. Demographically, girls workout in the AM and boys workout in the PM... so depending on what tickles your pickle, show up to a morning or evening. (I am a Noon WODer... because Im too cool for school!).

24 Hour Fitness
45 Montgomery St, San Francisco, CA 94104, United States
It ish a contradiction of sensibility for the place to be named a 24 hour, when there ish a Closing time and and Opening time.Which makes it impossible to access, if your use of the facilities ish in the morning before 7am.Which leaves you limited choice alternatives.Other than the inconsistency of the contradiction in brand and actual hours it ish open. This 24hr facility is a clean nice operation. How ever the competency of the staff ish still open for debates - as on my last few visits, the few actual staffers present were lost in their personal frames of mind.Which ish understandable, because they are often put in situations where there are intrusive and unpleasantness from members that are homeless and the random non members who are homeless.Because the remaining crazies who live on the streets of San Francisco gravitate to the financial district. Where the pickings for aggressive street begging ish good, and there are ample resources of waste cardboard to sleep on, with plentiful nooks to sleep in - that ish until building security or the police show up.Regarding the locker room area, the facilities are also modest. There ish a main locker room on the second floor adjacent to the personal training area and a secondary restroom on the third floor where the main workout area equipment ish located. Both (mens) have only one working toilet for the conveinience of members, with two urinals in the main locker room, and a single urinal on the second floor restroom. The showers are few, but in good working order. The colours are pleasing. The lockers themselves are the newer larger ones identical to the ones in the Market Street (Castro) and Van Ness Ave 24 hr fitness facilities . But again due to space limitations there are not a lot of lockers. There ish one redeeming perk, while the hand warm air dryers are noticeably weak and barely warm. There are two additional dryers located on the wall for the drying of heads that have wet hair. These two dryers are noticeably stronger. But are easily overlooked by those whom are height challenged. Because the on switch ish out of reach for them. A simple additional switching relay would remedy this little inconvenience and avoid potential litigation by our demunitive peers, the ones who still have hair on their heads. It ish a fine facility for that quick workout, when it ishnt crowded. As there ish just enough equipment to fill almost every last centimeter of viable working space. So it ish likely, that during normal day time hours one must modify their intended regime to accommodate the crowding of others who want to share the equipment.Good luck folks. It ish highly unlikely that a remodel will be coming in its future, as the layout of the structural engineering of the building would be excessively prohibitive and expensive.Had there been hindsight foretelling the passing of nongender specific toilets, it would of been exceedingly more efficient to design in a central non-gender toilet area to accommodate more toilets to poop in. With the locker and shower facilities branching off seperately. But then depending on the trust worthiness of social mores of some members, this may not be viable in this day. As a security presence would be needed to deter violators of other persons.

Are you lacking motivation to workout? Yeah, me too and thats why I chose to sign up for this gym! Well, technically, I signed up for the killer GROUPON deal of $49 for 10 boxing classes. They keep the advisement up to let new people like you and I give it a test drive for just about the cost of 7 beers at a bar.Summer is coming around the corner, and muffin topping is still not a good look. Also, washboarding that mid-section would be a nice addition to our accomplishments this year right? This year is the year!Cardio kickboxing is a killer workout; from jump roping, hitting the bag and exchanging punches with a partner. Im only in the beginning boxing class but Ive seen the intermediate boxing class and it looks super intense but in a good way.Beginning boxing class - Do not be discouraged to check out this gym/class whatever exercise level you are. The instructor is super helpful in technique and understands that people in the class are a different fitness levels. I go to the Thursday night classes and its about 40 people and she goes through each row of people (about 4) to ensure that youre doing it right.I definitely RECOMMEND this gym for someone who wants to get a great workout and make it fun. For me, being on the treadmill and workout bike can get a bit boring. This gym has the boxing classes to make the cardio workout fun while making it a full body workout.Additionally, the gym has free weights, cardio equipment, tons of punching bags and a boxing ring.
