Comment: POSD is the best Pilates studio in SD. Hope is my favorite teacher. Her classes are great if youre looking for slow, mindful, connected movement. Youll definitely feel stronger, longer, and leaner after just a few classes with her! Shaynas advanced class is also great. Itll kick youre a** if youre ready for it. Highly recommend the studio and teachers – everyone is well trained, highly educated, and very skilled in their craft.

Comment: I decided to begin Pilates for my back pain because I work remotely and am in front of a laptop for a minimum of 8 hours a day. The best decision I have ever made. I was looking at a Pilates place online that is close to where I live, which is East Village, where I could go, and I discovered pilatesofsandiego. It is very close to where I live. I have never worked out, so I booked a private session with Jamie. She is fantastic, and I cannot say enough about her personality and tactics!! Jamie always clearly explains every movement and shows me how I should do the move correctly to work on that specific area. I booked private sessions with her every Sunday, so I went to Pilates once a week. I love it so much, so after two months of private sessions with Jamie, I added a group class with Irene every Tuesday. I was getting completely sweaty every time I was leaving Irenes class. She always pays attention to each participant and, based on our level, gives more option on how we should do specific movements. Then, after a month or two, I added Shaynas classes to my routine. Shaynas classes are incredible. We use different tools, such as a bowl or a ring, to do the movement, which challenges us to put in more effort, which I love. The owner, Ania, is the sweetest person I met as a business owner. She was always available to answer my questions and give more options/recommendations about purchasing ten classes(which expire a year) or doing a different package. The classes are a maximum of six people; another advantage of this place is that if you want to cancel the booked class, you have 6 hours in advance to cancel your booking. After my experience with pilatesofsandiego, I cannot recommend this place highly enough to anyone to begin doing Pilates.

Comment: Wow, this pilates studio is absolutely amazing! I was an absolute beginner when I started doing private sessions with Irene. From Day 1, she has always been super supportive and encouraging, making me feel very comfortable right away. She is incredibly knowledgeable of the human body, I feel like I learn something new every week. Her workouts are always fun and creative, and the stretches, AMAZING. (: I still remember walking out of my first session feeling super rejuvenated. I have been doing it for a few months now and can honestly say it has made a huge difference, both physically and mentally. The studio is also super cute, clean, and has great equipment. I would highly recommend this studio and Irene, especially for beginners!

Comment: If youre looking for a pilates studio in San Diego, it has to be this one! I love that they offer different classes based on difficulty and classes that are focused on cardio and stretching. Their easier one is Re:Form or Reform/Tower and the hardest one is Burn and Sculpt. Compared to other studios, I feel that the instructor pacing, diversity in exercises, and studio environment is superior. I always try to go to Jamies and Shaynas classes. Jamie is a great instructor who gives clear, encouraging guidance and has a soothing voice, and Shaynas workouts are always killer and leave me feeling like I accomplished something new. Would highly recommend to a friend!

Comment: First real experience with Pilates and this place is awesome. I took a few personal sessions with Kalinka to learn the fundamentals of Pilates. She is a really great instructor and helps me focus on areas that build strength for the other sports I play (tennis and golf). Highly recommend both Pilates of San Diego and Kalinka as an instructor.

Comment: I chose this place because it was so close to my house — and I’m happy I did! I love that there are only 6 reformers, it makes the classes intimate, and creates opportunity for the instructors to give individualized critiques for improvements. All of the instructors were clearly intentionally selected and are GREAT at creating a nice ambiance for working out. The playlists are a bonus. Ania is super friendly, accommodating, and attentive to your needs. In just a month I’ve seen so many improvements in my physical and mental health. I would highly recommend this studio!

Comment: I absolutely love Pilates of San Diego! I have been to several different studios in San Diego and feel that the teachers here are by far the best. They’re all very skilled in the most important aspects of Pilates, controlled and focused movement, and execution of technique. I started traditional equipment and mat Pilates back in 2001, and fell in love with reformers when they came out, so I have some experience with Pilates. The best thing is that there is always room to grow and improve with Pilates, including deepening of technique and I really feel you get that at Pilates of SD. From beginner level and on, Ania and her crew are excellent at helping each person hone in on not only where they can improve but how well they are improving. I love the intimate size of the class with only 6 reformers in the studio it has allowed for comfort and personal attention during class and beyond, as they offer private and semi private sessions too. Literally cannot say enough great things about Pilates of SD!

Comment: Pilates of San Diego is a super clean studio and amazing in SO many ways! Ania, Laura and Shayna are super present, kind, professional, motivational and attentive instructors. They’ve continuously assisted me through my reps, corrected my form and modified my Reformer. I’ve experienced more strength and vitality, with greatly decreased pain symptoms, through my weeks of Pilates. Thank you Ania for creating and maintaining your sanctuary for my sustained health!

Comment: There is a centering effect to the downtown location of Pilate of San Diego studio. The calming contemporary design and lighting reminds me of being in the Village, NYC. This centering was ideal to begin my currentrehabilitation journey.I began Pilates private session with Ania as part of my rehabilitation from intense spinal surgery. I needed to develop strength to walk efficiently after a long period of using wheelchair for mobility. Working with Ania I have increased my strength, flexibility, coordination and endurance.

Comment: We moved here from NYC right as everything shut down last March, & during one of the brief reopenings, I managed to get in for the assessment with Chris--who was super sweet but also knowledgeable and gave me a great workout--bought a package and then no more in studio classes. So, FINALLY I got to attend in person. Ania was great, tough and intuitive, balanced in her approach. I did Reform:Plus and she was going around the room adjusting everyone and giving a lot of attention and correction throughout which is really important in Pilates. Even though I could tell the class was mostly regulars, Anita made sure to watch everyone and keep coming around to us newbies. I felt very welcome in this studio, though it was my first class. This studio will now be my go to, so happy to have close by me downtown.

Comment: I have practiced Pilates for over 20 years, and Ania is by far the most gifted teacher with whom I have had the good fortune of working. Her knowledge of the body, her clients’ individual needs and the discipline of Pilates means that you are safe in her care, even if you have pre-existing injuries. She is exacting and will push you, but only as far as she knows you can go — even when you have self doubt. That said, Ania listens, is responsive and flexible, customizing exercises according to your abilities. Her studios are spotless with updated, high end equipment. If you are looking for the best, look no more. Ania is masterful.

Comment: Absolutely phenomenal pilates studio!!! Ive been traveling for the past several months and have been attempting to keep up with my pilates practice while away from home, as such Ive visisted several pilates studios in various cities and Pilates of San Diego has the best group classses Ive attended of any studio! I attended classes at both the Marina and East Village locations and found both studios to be relaxing and well kept. More importantly all three teachers I had were excellent - Chris gives a tough workout, Sonja has such great grasp of human anatomy and really describes how to make the most of each movement and Gianna was very helpful on offering personalized corrections. I attended both reformer 1 and the stretching class. I absolutely loved the stretching class. Honestly, this studio almost made me want to move to San Diego.

Comment: LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! Pilates of San Diego is a quality reformer Pilates studio with quality instructors. I’ve been practicing reformer Pilates for over 10 years at studios all over the country, and Pilates of San Diego is one of the best I’ve ever experienced. Amazing owner Ania London and her talented band of instructors (Annie, Anel, Sheena, Carina, Fernanda, Yoshi) are the reason I return day after day. In a public class (8 reformers in all) where it’s just about impossible to get one-on-one instruction, they somehow manage to give you the attention you need, from the beginner to the most advanced student, perfecting form while cheering you on. Each instructor has their own style (and music soundtrack), which makes it great for offering variety if you’re a regular, but you can always count on some sort of version that’s not too far off from classical Pilates. Each class can be as challenging or easy as youd like it, depending on what effort youre willing to put in, so its good for all levels. I never leave feeling unsatisfied. Stretch classes are on offer, too, which combine really well with any other class at the studio.I’ve been attending the East Village studio since it opened in August 2016 (I first fell in love with Pilates of San Diego at their Marina District location), and it is a beautiful and motivating contemporary space with high, open ceilings, great ventilation (because you WILL sweat if you’re doing it right!), good sound system and brand-spanking new equipment: 8 reformers with towers, boxes, jump boards, Pilates rings, rubber balls, mats, hand weights of all sizes, and even a Cadillac reformer for private sessions. I expect the equipment to stay in good shape because Ania & her staff lovingly look after the studio (and students!).I cannot speak more highly of Ania, her staff and studio. If you’re ever considering trying reformer Pilates, or looking for a new studio, give this one a shot. Ania offers a killer introductory rate of 4 sessions for $49 or 8 sessions for $89 for new students, which is really a bargain for reformer classes at this caliber, which typically cost upwards of $30 for a drop-in class anywhere. If you’re stuck in an exercise rut or are simply looking for something different, try reformer Pilates for at least for a couple of weeks, and you will notice results immediately, if your form is correct (which is one of the best reasons for trying out Pilates of San Diego).I’ve found a regular practice of reformer Pilates to be the one exercise that has changed my body (and mind) for the better. I’ve been active all my 40+ years, always played team sports and love outdoor pursuits, but I’ve always had to work my ass off to stay in shape without ever achieving the results I really wanted. There has been nothing like reformer Pilates in my experience where I’ve seen & felt noticeable results so quickly when I’m doing it regularly. I feel strong without the bulk, my clothes fit so much better, and practice makes me ready for any activity that comes my way (even extreme sports!). And, I find it’s not grueling, so I actually look forward to class (especially those at Pilates of San Diego), which, if you’re a regular of anything, is a major hurdle.Bottom line, I hope I never have to move out of San Diego because I don’t think I can live without Pilates of San Diego!
